Awesomeness4Newcastle : Faster travel, happiness and more jobs (A campaign to unite us all)

1. Better main roads with higher speed limits (Faster travel)
2. Road solutions that increase business for businesses (more jobs)
3. More people on more frequent public transport (Faster travel)
4. Save gym time by walking and cycling on safer local roads and paths (Faster travel, happiness)
5. Less road rage and sprawling traffic congestion less stress (happiness)
6. Shops, school, work, and recreation places closer to homes (Faster travel)
Ethical, Science based, World's best practice solutions to create awesome livable cities (Awesomeness)
We must all unite for a better Newcastle (and the Hunter).  No longer is it motorists vs pedestrian vs Community group, etc, and the other petty arguing and road rage.  We are all people and we are all pedestrians and only when we unite in a common campaign will we get the whole system fixed for us all.
But it is impossible for all of us to agree?
This is nonsense.  We all agree on the aims above.  Let us just use world's best practice of other cities to better Newcastle.  There is no magic bullet, one thing that fixes our transport.  So we all need to push for the complete solution.  If you are only worried about peak hour traffic at 8:30am around the Uni, you may think lobbying the Uni to start all lectures at 10am will fix your problem.  But you move house and have other bottlenecks to deal with.  One campaign to fix the whole of Newcastle.  Simple.  The local councils, State government and Uni are not working together for a Faster Roads and Transport System for all people of Newcastle.  They have separate road plans, parking plans, bus plans, train plans, bicycle network plans, highway plans, urban development plans that frequently fight against each other.  A complete encompassing plan is needed for Newcastle.  You can't separate out things because they are interrelated.   So motorists that will never take the bus need to call for more frequent buses.  People that take the bus need to call for a safe pushbike cycle system (away from main roads).  Pushbike cyclists need to call for higher speed limits on improved main roads.
A highly visible campaign, to engage everyone is needed to grow support.

Top 3 mistakes Newcastle cyclists make.
1: On Newcastle roads wherever there is a bike picture on the road do not cycle over the top of it.  For your safety you should usually cycle just to the right of it (NSW Road Rules 153, 144 & 247 advise to ride the safe way (usually 1.5m away from parked cars)
2: Seat is too low causing knees to hurt and slower cycling
3: Leg rotation too slow causing you to tire quickly
